Que estás haciendo?!?!

EL finde semana pasado tuve la oportunidad de ir con mi hijo a NASA en Houston. Fueuna experiencia muy divertida, a pesar de no haber dormido mucho esa noche… elpiso no es mi mejor amigo. Ya me acostumbre a mi cómoda cama y mi silenciosa habitación.Al menos silenciosa para mi, apuesto que mi esposa tiene una experiencia muydistinta gracias a mis ronquidos.

Yosabía que ser un astronauta es un reto grande pero no tenía idea que había tanta preparación escolar para seruno. Estos personajes necesitan varios títulos y doctorados en diferentes áreasy luego aplicar para ver SI pueden elegirlos para ser astronautas, mas lapreparación detrás del telón para enviar a estos seres valientes a hacer algoque les puede costar la vida.

Esaparte fue la me llamo la atención, la pasión, el deseo de lograr algo, deconocer más, de obtener más para que nuestras generaciones futuras tenganacceso a información más actualizada y correcta, para que cumplan sus propiosdeseos, estar en el espacio, poder ver, experimentar y sentir lo que no muchosseres humanos ni siquiera sus propios colegas podrán experimentar. Que chévere!!!Puedo imaginarme el día en que a un “loco” (perdón no tuve tiempo de buscar másinformación en Google… méteme preso!! jajaja) se le ocurrió “mmm quiero salirde este planeta y ver que mas hay allá afuera”. Estoy seguro que su idea ycreencia no fue muy popular, pero su reto era mayor que tener gente que legustara su idea o por lo menos si era algo que se podría lograr. Una vez que laNASA se estableció y perdieron trágicamente su primer grupo de astronautas,ellos pudieron haber cerrado el programa antes de continuar arriesgando otrasvidas pero sorprendente no fue así. No solo continúan teniendo misionesespaciales pero más gente continúa convirtiéndose en astronautas y arriesgandosus vidas por una razón solamente, ellos creen que su esfuerzo y estudios haránuna diferencia.

Eso esadmirable, y me hizo pensar. En que yo soy así de apasionado? Apasionadosuficientemente que no me dé temor a fallar, que me haga perder el temor dearriesgarlo todo? Tuve que buscar en mi interior y encontré algunas respuestas.Una de ellas en 1 Pedro 4: 8 – 10. Todos tenemos talentos y dones dados porDios; fueron dados para que otros se beneficien de ellos y para ser utilizados con amor ferviente el uno por elotro. El reinado de Dios en nuestras vidas es algo por qué estar apasionado.Después de todo, los planetas, las estrellas, el sistema solar y las galaxiasfueron hechas por El y todo tendrá un fin algún día pero Su reino será porsiempre.

Dios apuesto algo en mi corazón y necesito que todos aquellos que creen en la oraciónque por favor oren por mí y mi familia para que nos guie, nos de pasión yvalentía para cumplir los sueños que El nos ha dado.

A lomejor tú no conoces cuál es tu “don” o pasión pero una cosa es segura, que tu vida es un regalo del Dios de amor.Déjame preguntarte… Que estás haciendo con la vida que El te ha dado? Supalabra dice que cada uno de nosotros daremos cuentas de nuestras acciones a Dios. Que le vas a decir cuando tepregunte, que has hecho con lo que te he dado? Quiero hacerte un reto, inviertetu vida en algo que permanecerá por siempre; te prometo que no te arrepentirás.

What are you doing?!?!

This week I had the opportunity to go with my son to NASA inHouston. It was a very cool experience, besides not sleeping much… the floor isnot my best friend. I’ve gotten use to my comfortable bed and my quiet room. Atleast quite for me, I bet my wife has a different experience thanks to my snoring.

I knew becoming an astronaut was challenging but didn’t havea clue there was so much preparation. I mean, come on those guys need a bunchof masters and PhDs on a lot of different fields and then apply to see IF theycan become one, plus all the preparation behind the scenes to send these bravemen and women to do something they would be willing to give their lives for.

That’s what caught my attention, the passion, the desire toaccomplish, to know more, to get more, for our future generations to haveaccess to more accurate information, to fulfill their dreams, to be in space,to see, experience and feel what not many people even in their own field willever experience. What a rush!!! I can picture that day when a crazy dude (sorrydidn’t have time to Google details… geez sue me!!! Lol) thought “hmm I want toget out of this planet and see what’s out there”. I’m sure his idea and believewas not very popular, but his challenge was greater than just having peoplelike the idea or at least believe that it was possible to accomplish. I thinkthat once NASA was established and they lost their first group of astronautstragically, they could have said that’s it, enough we are not going to keeptrying to do this and keep risking these people’s lives. Surprisingly not onlythey continue going to space, even thou more lives have been lost trying, butmore people continue becoming astronauts and risk their lives for one reasonand one reason only, they believe their effort and research will make adifference.

It got me thinking, what am I that passionate about?Passionate enough that will make me lose any fear of failure, any fear ofrisking it all? I had to do some searching and I found some answers. One ofthem, in 1 Peter 4:8-10. We all have God given talents and gifts; they weregiven for others to benefit from them and to be used with intense love for eachother. God’s kingdom is something to be passionate about. After all, theplanets, the stars, the solar system and galaxies were made by Him andeverything will come to an end one day but His Kingdom will always be.

God has put something in my heart and I need all of thosewho believe in prayer to please pray for me and my family to be guided by Himand give us the passion and fearless attitude to fulfill this God-given dreamwe have.

Maybe you don’t know what your “gift” or passion is but onething you can be certain of, that your life is a gift from the loving God. Letme ask you… What are you doing with the life that was given to you? God’s wordsays that each of us will give account of ourselves to God. What would you tellhim when He asks you, what have you done with what I’ve given you? I want tochallenge you to invest your life on something that is everlasting; I promiseyou there will be no regrets.

Desde Mi Interior

Me complaciómucho la semana pasada haber compartido con ustedes viaje de la vida y mirandolas estadísticas del blog hubieron una buena cantidad de visitantes en lapagina. Y lo más interesante para mí fue ver que algunas visitas fueron departes del mundo que no esperaba, me imagino que Dios alcanza a quien quiere yen donde quiere.

Estoy impresionadocon la naturaleza humana, a lo mejor ustedes han odio el dicho que dice “lastragedias sacan lo mejor o peor de las personas”. Algo terrible sucede en elmundo y vez cientos de personas dejando todo para ir a ayudar a personas en gran necesidad. Lo hemos visto enataques terroristas, terremotos, tsunamis; estas personas están dispuestas a arriesgarsus vidas por ayudar. Por supuesto, también vemos a aquellos que se aprovechande la miseria de otros, robándoles comida y propiedades y hasta dispuestos aquitarles la vida para obtener lo necesario para sobrevivir. Pero cuando veopersonas ayudando usualmente se me llenan de lagrimas los ojos y deseo estar ahíayudando pero me encuentro con una realidad… Tengo que trabajo yresponsabilidades que no puedo abandonar. Estoy seguro que no soy el único quese siente así.

Estasemana he estado estudiando el mismo capítulo que discutíamos la semana pasada,Génesis 24:42-46 y Eliezer estaba buscando esposa para Isaac, hijo de Abraham.Y Eliezer le pidió a Dios que le diera éxito ese día y pudiera encontrar mujerpara Isaac con las características mencionadas abajo.

“42 Y llegué hoy a la fuente, ydije: "Oh Señor, Dios de mi señor Abraham, si ahoraquieres dar éxito a mi viaje en el cual ando,43 he aquí, estoy parado junto ala fuente de agua; que la doncella que salga a sacar agua, y a quien yo diga: 'Te ruego que me des de beber un pocode agua de tu cántaro',44 y ellame diga, 'Bebe, y también sacaré para tus camellos', que sea ella la mujer queel Señor ha designado para el hijo de miseñor."45 Antes de que yo hubieraterminado de hablar en mi corazón, he aquí, Rebeca salió con su cántaro alhombro, y bajó a la fuente y sacó agua,y yo le dije: "Te ruego que me des de beber."46 Y ella enseguida bajó elcántaro de su hombro, y dijo:"Bebe, y daré de beber también a tus camellos"; de modo que bebí, yella dio de beber también a los camellos.”

No solole sirvió agua pero también les ofreció agua a sus camellos, que por ciertoella tuvo que sacar MUCHA agua para los camellos. Y si lees el capítulo enteroveras que también le ofrece un lugar donde dormir y lo alimenta. A donde quierollegar es lo siguiente, Eliezer no estaba en un desastre o en una tragedia. Elsolo tenía una tarea o misión; todo lo que le pidió fue agua y términorecibiendo agua para sus camellos un lugar donde dormir y comida ofrecido poruna completa extraña.

Yoestoy agradecido por todas aquellas personas que ayudan en desastres otragedias pero nosotros no necesitamos que algo fuera de lo extraordinariosuceda para mostrar realmente de que estamos hechos. Todo los días tenemosoportunidades de mostrar bondad los unos a los otros, a lo mejor hasta a un completoextraño. La mayoría de la gente desea mostrar bondad o actos no egoístas cuandohay caos pero la verdadera bondad también se muestra en la vida diaria. Que mejorejemplo que el que la vida de Jesús nos dejo. La biblia dice que Dios es amor yDios vive en nosotros entonces el amor esta en nosotros. Todos podemos haceralgo por alguien en nuestra vida diaria, no hay ninguna excusa para no hacerlo.Quien sabe a lo mejor algún día seas tú el extraño o alguien a quien tu amas losea. Continuemos creciendo y brillandodesde nuestro interior!

Inside Out

I was very pleased last week sharing with all of you myjourney and just looking at the stats on my blog, it had quite a good amount ofviewers and from some parts of the world I was not expecting, I guess Godreaches as he pleases.

I’m amazed with human nature, you probably have heard thesaying “tragedies bring out the best or worst in people”. Something horriblehappens in the world and you have a good amount of people giving it all theycan to help all these people in great need. I mean we have 9/11, earthquakes, tsunamis;you name it and there will be people willing to give even their lives to help.Of course you also see the ones that actually take advantage of other people’smisery by stealing food or property, even willing to take someone else’s lifeto obtain whatever it’s needed to “survive”. But when I see people helping out Iusually get teary eyes and wish I was there helping but for whatever reason,usually work and other responsibilities I am not there. I bet I’m not the onlyone that feels that way…

We’ll this week I was studying the same chapter we werediscussing last week, Genesis 24:42-46 and Eliezer was looking for a wife forIsaac, Abraham’s son. He asked God to give him success that day and find awoman for Isaac with the characteristics he requested below.

“42 "Today when I came tothe spring, I prayed: Lord, God of my master Abraham, if only You will make myjourney successful! 43 Iam standing here at a spring. Let the virgin who comes out to draw water, and Isay to her: Please let me drink a little water from your jug, 44 and who responds to me, 'Drink, and I'll draw water for your camelsalso'-let her be the woman the Lord has appointed for my master's son.45 "BeforeI had finished praying silently, there was Rebekah coming with her jug on her shoulder and she went down to the spring and drew water. So I said to her: Pleaselet me have a drink. 46 She quickly lowered her jug from her [shoulder] and said, 'Drink, andI'll water your camels also.' So I drank, and she also watered the camels. “

Not only she had served him but she also served his camels, whichby the way she drew A LOT of water to give to all his camels. And if you read the chapter you’ll notice thatshe also offered him a place to sleep and food. This is where I’m going withthis. Eliezer was not in a disaster or tragedy. He just had a mission, a task;and all he did was ask for water and he got that plus water for all his camels,a place to sleep and food from a complete stranger.

I’m grateful for all those people that help during disasters but wedo not need something out of the ordinary to happen to show our true colors. Everyday we have the opportunity to show kindness to one another, maybe sometimes acomplete stranger. Most people want to show kindness or be selfless when thereis chaos but true kindness is shown in a daily basis as well. What better example than Jesus‘slife. The bible says that God is love and if God lives in us than Love is inus. We can all do something in our daily life for someone else. There is noexcuse on that one. Who knows one day that stranger that needs a hand might beyou or someone you love. Let’s keepgrowing and glowing from the inside out!

Nunca Es Tarde

Hay muchas cosas que he aprendido en losúltimos años, cosas que yo creía ya saber o al menos haber ya “conquistado”… yahabrá tiempo para entrar en detalles en algunas de ellas pero todo lo que puedodecir es que no estoy en el mismo lugar que estaba hace 10, 5, 1 año atrás yespero que el próximo año pueda decir lo mismo. No podemos estar en el mismolugar, y por lugar me refiero a espiritualmente, financieramente,emocionalmente, relacionalmente, físicamente o ocupacionalmente.

Es por eso que estoy empezando este blog,primordialmente por mí para que los más cercanos a mi me puedan ayudar a serdiligente en este gran viaje llamado vida. Así que espero me pregunten cadasemana si no he escrito un blog! Y para aquellos que no les importa mucho onada, espero que esto les ayude a conocerme mejor o por lo menos a que vean que“es posible” haiga algo más en la vida que solo despertar y caer en la rutinadiaria de la vida hasta que uno muera. Así que aquí vamos.

Hoy comencé a leer el devocional diariode Rick Warren, obviamente me motivo pero también me puso un reto hoy y deseoinvitarte a este viaje.

El año pasado me di cuenta que era unhombre deprimido, si estaba deprimido y ni lo sabia jaja. Pensaba que no erafeliz con lo que tenia, lo que había logrado en la vida y en si quien yo era.Me quejaba en silencio, y me comencé a estar descontento, pero yo conocía laverdad… todos los versículos que me enseñaban a cómo comportarme y comosentirme (no me malinterpreten todos esos versículos son tremendos) pero mirealidad era otro, para mi yo no era o tenia lo que yo pensé yo quería ser otener. Y después de horas de otros orando por mí, consejería y el tiempo; Diosen solo maneras que El sabe hacer, comenzó a traerme nuevamente a El (a vecesme arrastraba jaja) Cometí errores?… siiiii, trate de alejarme de todo lo que sabíaera bueno??... siiiiii. No estaba en un buen lugar, pero sabes qué? Dios siestaba ahí donde yo estaba. Aunque estaba caminando en el lado opuesto, El estabaallí para encontrarse conmigo donde yo estaba. Aunque habían veces que no le quería“contestar las llamadas al celular” Yo puedo decir que Dios me perseguía.

Yo se que la mayoría de nosotros tenemosmomentos de sequia en la vida, pero realmente yo necesitaba un Gatorade rápido.Pero aunque pase por todo esto y Dios estando ahí, mi peor enemigo se convirtióla culpabilidad y la vergüenza. Alguna vez has estado tan distante de alguienque sabes que el tiempo ayudo a sanar heridas pero no sabes cómo acercarte? Solocon pensar “que excusa puede justificar my comportamiento?” bueno puedo decirteque ahora entiendo que Dios no necesita mis excusas para verme mas all de ladistancia, todo lo que necesita es un corazón dispuesto.

Así como Dios le prometió a Abraham que seríapadre de una gran nación. Pero Genesis 24 encontramos aAbraham anciano y su hijo, Isaac, aun sin hijos. Abrahammirando la situación envío a su siervo, Eliezer, a encontrar esposa para Isaac.–Rick Warren-

Ahora sabemos que la promesa de Dios se cumpliópara Abraham. Y lo que aprendí en estos versículos fue que nunca es tarde paracambiar en tu vida, aunque hacer el cambio tome más tiempo de lo que teimaginas. A Abraham le tomo AÑOS, es por eso que no podemos ser procrastinar.Podemos dejar que los próximos 10 años nos pasen por nuestras narices o podemostener dirección en nuestras vidas. Es nuestra decisión!! Y si en el camino porerror o por decisión perdemos la ruta, no te preocupes Dios te encontrara en elcamino.

Never Too Late

There are many things I have learned in the last couple of years, things i thought i already knew or at least i had "mastered"... there will be enough time to go in detail on some of those things but for now all I can say is that I am not in the same place in life i was 10, 5, 1 year ago and i hope next year i can say the same thing. See, we cant be at the same place, by place i mean spiritually, financially, emotionally, relationally, physically or occupationally.

That is why I'm starting this blog, mainly for myself to have my closest friends holding me accountable on my life journey, for those who do care; I expect messages asking me why i have not posted more stuff on my blog!!!. And for those that care less or not at all, hopefully this will help you to know me better or just to at least be aware that there "might be" more to live then just waking up and doing the daily routine over and over again till we die. Sooooo, here we go.

Today i started reading Rick's Warren daily devotional, and it obviously motivated me but not only that it challenged me and today I'm inviting you to that journey.

Last year i realized i was a depressed man, yup i was and didn't know it lol. I thought i wasn't happy with what i had, what i had accomplished so far. I became a silent complainer and became very discontent, but of course i knew better... All the verses that taught me how to behave and how to feel (don't get me wrong all those are awesome) but my reality was different, in my eyes i was not or had what i thought i wanted. And after hours of others praying for me, counseling and just time. God in his own way of doing things started little by little "bringing" me back to him (at times dragging me). Did i make mistakes... mmhhmm, did I tried to walk away from what i knew... mmhhmm. I was not in a good place but you know what? God was!! Even tho i was walking the opposite way, He was there to meet me right there where i was. Even if i didn't want to answer His "phone calls". I can say God was my stalker lol.

I know most of us have those moments were we go through a dry time in life, but seriously i needed some Gatorade asap. But even tho i went through all that and God was there, my biggest enemy became guilt and shame. Have you ever been so distant to someone that you know time healed that separation but you don't find the strength to make that call and get in touch with that person again? just thinking "what excuse could i use to justify my behavior?" well I can tell you now i understand that God doesn't need my excuses to see past that distance all he needs is a willing heart.

See, just as God promised Abraham that he would become the father of a great nation. But in Genesis 24, we find Abraham is now an old man and his son, Isaac, still doesn't have any children yet. Abraham assessed the situation and, as a result, he sent his servant, Eliezer, to find a wife for Isaac. -Rick Warren-

Now we all know God's promise came true! So what I learned through these verses was that it is never too late for you to make a change in your life, even though making the change may take longer than you think. Abraham took him YEARS,This is why we can't procrastinate. We can either drift through the next ten years or we can have direction over the next ten years. It is up to us!! and even if by mistake or decision we get don't find our way, don't worry God will.
